et ready to soar with pride! Paramotor Africa and Epic Aviation, two powerhouses in the world of aviation, have joined forces to revolutionize paramotor manufacturing in South Africa. Their mission? To deliver top-tier, proudly South African products to thrill-seekers across the globe.
The adventure began with Riaan Struwig, an Aviation Systems Engineer at the time with Denel, who blazed a trail by developing the first South African paramotor frame. At the time, most frames were outdated J-bar or fixed high attachment systems. But then came the “Cumulus” PPG, a game-changer that quickly became a favorite, featuring in world championships and setting the stage for more innovative models. By 2009, the groundbreaking “Spider” PPG had pilots worldwide, including in the UK, taking notice.
Since then, the Spider series has evolved, with over 92 units of five different models sold globally. Fast forward to 2020, and Basjan van Heerden of Paramotor Africa unveiled a new concept with an integrated tank design, leading to the creation of the “Run-to-Fly” PPG prototype—a model that’s still soaring today.
Enter Apex Adventures, joint venture between the two companies, which took the best ideas from around the world and crafted the Apex “XC Swift” PPG. This beast of a machine combines cutting-edge technology with sleek design, featuring frames made from aluminum or soon to come titanium with carbon fiber accents.
The “XC Swift” is designed for the adventurous at heart, offering total control and superior performance. Its 19L integrated fuel tank enhances the center of gravity and reduces vibrations, giving you a smoother ride. The Swing Arms Attachment Points (SAAP) and Adjustable Swing Arms (ASA) allow for a fully customizable setup, whether you’re a student or an acro pro. And with options like the Apco SLT Comfort harness or upgrades to the Dudek Comfort or Ozone Indy harness, you can tailor your ride to perfection.
But that’s not all—the “XC Swift” stands out with customizable colors and a stylish design that lets you fly in your own unique style. One of its standout features is the versatile engine mounting plate, made from durable 6068T6 aluminum. This allows for easy engine swaps, whether you’re flying with the flagship Vittorazi motors or the robust/affordable DLE200.
The Apex XC Swift Paramotor was built on three pillars:
- Reliability/Safety: Designed with safety as the top priority, this frame is reliable for all types of pilots, from beginners to acro experts. Every CNC part has been meticulously designed, stress-tested, and field-tested to ensure you get a top-quality, safe product.
- Affordability: In a challenging global economy, affordability matters. The Apex XC Swift strikes a balance between cutting-edge technology and cost-efficiency, ensuring you get a high-quality PPG frame without breaking the bank.
- Quality: Apex refuses to compromise on quality. Using state-of-the-art 3D CAD software and rigorous testing, the XC Swift is engineered to be the ultimate PPG frame in its class.
